Bahrain-based engineering and infrastructure company Downtown Group announced that the site preparation work for implementation of Package A of the Bapco Modernization Program (BMP) is complete, Trade Arabia reported.

BMP is located on Bahrain’s eastern coast and involves the expansion of the existing Sitro oil refinery to 360,000 barrels per day (b/d) from 267,000 b/d.

The project will be executed on a lump sum turnkey basis. It includes the construction of units for residue hydrocracking, hydro desulphurization, crude distillation, vacuum distillation, hydrogen production, hydrogen recovery, sulfur recovery, and tail gas treatment.
