Dresser-Rand won a tender by Egyptian Petrobel-Belayim Petroleum to provide 3 SGT-400 turbines along with their electricity generator to Zohr gas field located 200km near Egyptian coastline, reported Al Borsa. According to the agreement, Dresser-Rand will also supply spare parts and present maintenance work as needed. The turbines and generators are expected to arrive to Egypt at the beginning of 2017.
The SGT-400 turbines are manufactured at Siemens’ headquarter in Lincoln, England. These turbines have a significant impact on the efficiency of the gas-fired power generation. They are considered to be among the best turbines, globally, and will result in reduced fuel consumption.
In related news, Egypt Oil&Gas reported the the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation’s Deputy CEO of Production, Diaa Eldin M. Kassem had stated that Zohr field’s production would come online during the second half of 2017. According to the field’s development report, the drilling operations along with establishing a gas treatment plant and processing marine pipelines to connect them to the Shorouk concession area were being executed.
