Christmann: Apache Keen to Maximize Egypt’s Energy Resources

John Christmann, CEO of Apache Corporation, has expressed his desire to continue its successful partnership with Egypt and contribute to maximizing the state’s energy resources.

This came during his meeting with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi in which they reviewed and exchanged the visions about the plans to increase oil and gas production from the company’s concession areas in the Western Desert of Egypt and intensify the activities of exploration and production.

He also expressed his appreciation for his meeting the President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. “Apache is honored to meet with His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to discuss common interests and our continued commitment to Egypt,” Christmann said.

“We look forward to continuing progress in the Egyptian modernization initiatives that were launched in 2021 and working with the new government and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, while we continue our long-term partnership with Egypt to contribute responsibly to maximizing the country’s energy resources,” he added.

Badawi stressed the importance of increasing cooperation and joint efforts between the petroleum sector and Apache Corporation in light of the importance attached by the petroleum sector to increasing production rates, pointing to the importance of supporting the expansion of the use of modern technology to raise the efficiency of existing fields, increase their production rates, and quickly put wells on the production line.

Also, the minister reviewed with Apache’s CEO how to expand the company’s activities in new natural gas exploration areas in the Western Desert to contribute to increasing production.

The meeting also touched on a showcase of the recent visit of Badawi to the Khalda Petroleum Company’s production fields in the Western Desert in which Apache invests, and the good return of the visit and his meeting with the workers to motivate them to exert more effort.

Additionally, the minister highlighted the importance of benefiting from the distinguished expertise of the workers at Apache Corporation and increasing the integration between them and the Egyptian expertise of the petroleum cadres.

He also explained the importance of cooperation between the petroleum sector and Apache to achieve the highest safety rates for workers and facilities in the work areas and to enhance methods of environmentally responsible production and operations.
