China’s exports of solar cells and panels by weight fell 6.4% year on year (YoY) in September to 1.21 million metric tons (mmt), Reuters reported on October 18, citing customs data.
The volume increased from 840,000 metric tons in August, according to Reuters.
However, exports for the first nine months of the year declined 9.5% YoY to 9.37 mmt.
Despite the decline in export volume, the value of September shipments rose 19.4% YoY to $3.34 bn. By unit count, exports increased 11.3% YoY to 1.44 billion solar cells and panels.
On October 16, China proposed export controls on 12 solar-manufacturing technologies, including processes used to produce advanced wafers and high-efficiency solar cells, according to renewable energy magazine PV Magazine.
