Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, met with Thomas A. Pellette, Executive Vice President of Caterpillar Inc. International, and the accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed opportunities to increase cooperation with the company and benefit from the environmentally friendly solutions, technologies, and equipment it provides within the framework of exploiting all means to reduce carbon in the operations and activities of the oil and gas industry.
During the meeting, El Molla referred to the efforts made by the oil and gas sector as part of its strategy to reduce carbon, which opens the way for more partnerships and investment opportunities during the coming period.
El Molla further referred to the diversity of opportunities and projects in the Egyptian oil sector and the presence of international partners from major international companies who are implementing projects and plans with huge investments.
The minister added that working in the oil and gas sector in Egypt is a gateway for international companies to reach the eastern Mediterranean region and its growing opportunities in light of effective regional cooperation under the umbrella of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF).
El Molla also referred to the expansion of the activities of Egyptian companies in the Arab countries, especially the Fajr Company, which is expanding in managing the natural gas network in brotherly Jordan, and the opportunities that this provides for increasing cooperation and joint action.
Meanwhile, Pellette stated that the Egyptian oil and gas sector is a reliable partner and that the company looks forward to increasing work with it and expanding its activities in Egypt through it, especially since its work with companies in the sector in Egypt confirmed the existence of opportunities to achieve more success.
Pellette reviewed the modern solutions, technologies, and equipment that it provides related to the goals of achieving energy transition, carbon reduction, development of resources in an environmentally sustainable manner, intervention in solar energy projects, methane capture, and carbon removal techniques from exploration and production operations.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of cooperation in the mining sector to reduce carbon in its operations in light of the growing activity of this sector in Egypt after creating the investment climate and attracting new companies.
