Natural Gas Vehicles Company (Car gas) converted 22,649 cars to run on natural gas in 2019, up by 122% compared to 10,212 cars in 2018, according to a press release.

Hesham El Safty, Car Gas Chairman, said that the company now has a total of 77 natural gas fuel stations and 22 natural gas car conversion centers; owning 40% and 29% of the total local market share, respectively. El Safty added that Car Gas also expanded to reach 19 governorates and inaugurated several projects including the first-ever natural gas cylinders’ inspection and regeneration center in Cairo and Nasr City.

This came during the company’s general assembly headed by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, clarifying the importance of expanding natural gas as car fuels. This will contribute to reducing the demand for other forms of fuels such as; gasoline and diesel, which are partially imported to meet the needs of the local market.
