The Egyptian government gave the green light to the Ministry of Electricity to discuss the first phase of a planned solar energy project with Eni, MENAFN reporting, citing Daily News Egypt.
The cabinet approved establishing a 200 megawatt (MW) solar plant with Eni, considering that the price of electricity produced from the plant will be of the same value as the prices received by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to transmit electricity in Kom Ombo for $0.027 per 1 kilowatt per hour (kW/h).
The Ministry of Electricity notified Eni informing them of the cabinet’s decision to negotiate the prices in order to close the agreement.
