Border Demarcation with Cyprus, Saudi Arabia to Boost Gas Discoveries: El Sisi

The demarcation of the borders with Cyprus and Saudi Arabia would allow for more gas discoveries, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said.

This came during the “Ask the President” session, as part of the National Youth Conference held on July 30-31, in response to a question on the Eastern Mediterranean gas discoveries.

The President responded that this topic has already been discussed in the East Med Gas Forum, which revealed that 82 gas discoveries has been made in the Nile Delta.

The new demarcation of the borders with Cyprus and Saudi Arabia have created new opportunities for other discoveries and exploration, El Sisi said.

He further elaborated that these discoveries have helped in achieving self-sufficiency for Egypt and created a surplus in exports.

Cooperating with the East Med seven, the countries participating in the forum countries, can maximize our capabilities in terms of gas production and infrastructure, El Sisi added.
