Benha Electronics Company aims to increase solar cells manufacturing capacity from 50MW to 100MW annually, starting 2017, reported Al Borsa.
Benha Electronics’ CEO, Magdy Mohamadein, stated that the company contracted the establishment of 13 solar power plants in Asiut with capacity 480kWh. It also contracted the development of a number of solar power plants in Sharm El Sheikh, Hurgada and Aswan.
Mohamedien’s comments came on the sidelines of Electrics Exhibition. He added that Benha Electronics contracted the construction of one solar power plant in Cairo with a capacity 350kWh. In addition, the company is building another solar power plant on the rooftop of Cairo University with a capacity of 670kWh, as well as 3 solar plants at the Smart Village, Borg El Arab and Asiut with a total capacity of 750kWh.
In related news, the Egyptian New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) would launch a tender for the development of a 20MW solar power plant in Kom Ombo, Aswan, in cooperation with the French Agency for Development (AFD) which has offered to finance the construction of the solar power plant with a loan worth about $43m.
