Baker Hughes Wins Major KOC Contact to Boost Kuwait Oil Output

Baker Hughes has secured a significant multi-year contract from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to deploy advanced artificial lift technologies that will boost production across Kuwait’s oil and natural gas fields, according to a company statement. The agreement reinforces Kuwait’s efforts to enhance recovery from mature reservoirs while improving operational efficiency in its upstream portfolio.

Under the contract, Baker Hughes will supply electrical submersible pumps (ESPs), as well as installation, monitoring, and maintenance services. The systems will be integrated with the FusionPro intelligent production drive and the Leucipa automated field production solution to improve reliability, optimize performance, and reduce nonproductive time.

Amerino Gatti, Executive Vice President of Oilfield Services and Equipment at Baker Hughes, said the award reflects the company’s long-standing role in unlocking additional value from mature fields in Kuwait. He noted that Baker Hughes’ artificial lift systems have been operating in the country for nearly two decades with a strong track record in efficiency and reliability.

The new contract follows a previous third-quarter award from KOC for advanced wireline and perforation services. That award includes Proxima’s advanced logging technologies designed to enhance reservoir evaluation and support higher recovery rates.

Baker Hughes maintains a strong presence in Kuwait’s energy sector, operating a 25,000-square-meter workshop dedicated to artificial lift equipment testing and failure analysis. Earlier this year, the company also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a research and development center at Ahmadi Innovation Valley, supporting upstream technology development and local capability building.
