Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has welcomed the entry of John Cockerill International into a partnership with Scatec and the companies participating in the implementation of the green ammonia production project in Damietta Governorate.
This came during his reception of a delegation of heads and representatives of John Cockerill , Scatec ASA, SLB, Technip and Rely companies to review ways of cooperation with the petroleum sector in implementing the green ammonia production project from hydrogen, which is scheduled to be established in Damietta Governorate.
Badawi confirmed that Egypt has a roadmap for implementing green hydrogen projects and that it is serious about cooperating with international companies to make the implementation of these projects successful. The minister noted that Egypt can become a reliable source of hydrogen for Europe and the world.
In this regard, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) is working to support the acceleration of procedures for implementing new projects underway in partnership between the petroleum sector and leading international companies. The ministry is further working to support localizing technology industries related to this field locally to attract more investments.
For their part, the companies’ representatives indicated that the European Union (EU) considers Egypt a strategic partner in cooperation in the field of green energy and hydrogen, expressing their aspiration to implement many important projects in this field in Egypt and benefit from the enormous potential it possesses.
John Cockerill Company presented during the meeting the role of each company in the alliance in implementing the project and some other similar projects being implemented in other countries.
