Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi held an extensive meeting with the heads and leaders of the petroleum and mineral resources sector companies aiming at spreading a message of empowerment and support to the sector’s leaders to enhance team spirit and give an interest to human resources.
The meeting also aimed to review the current situation of the petroleum and natural gas industry in Egypt, achieve integration to confront and deal with challenges, and develop practical and realistic executive plans.
During the meeting, Badawi stressed that the significant relations between the petroleum sector companies and foreign partners have contributed to achieving many successes in recent years through integration, transparency and continuous communication with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and the holding companies.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of the heads of the sector companies as representatives of the state with the foreign partner at the financial, technical and administrative levels and motivating them to find initiatives to pump more investments for accelerating the processes of research, exploration, production and development, in addition to their role in achieving communication with workers in the petroleum sector by intensifying field visits to achieve the best production rates.
The Minister pointed to one of the most important challenges facing the petroleum sector is bridging the gap between production and consumption in light of the unprecedented increase in consumption rates.
He elaborated that this will not be achieved without increasing production, intensifying research, exploration and development operations, and working to increase field productivity and manage petroleum reservoirs according to the scientific and practical approach that achieves sustainability and efficiency, maintains safe operation and achieves sustainable development goals.
Badawi stressed that human cadres are the main element to drive development efforts and achieve the desired goals, announcing the appointment of assistants to company chairmen from graduates of the middle management program with the aim of achieving communication between generations, exchanging experiences, and developing skills pointing to the importance of empowering women.
Moreover, he highlighted the importance of energy efficiency improvement projects, applying health, safety and environment (HSE) measures in various workplaces, ways of reducing emissions and social responsibility projects, pointing to the importance of digital technologies in achieving development goals and reducing costs in parallel with operational efficiency and increasing production.
