Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with representatives from international and Egyptian companies involved in the construction of the Diesel Production Complex in Assiut, a project affiliated with the Assiut National Oil Processing Company (ANOPC).
The minister underscored the project’s critical importance to the nation, emphasizing its role in boosting fuel production and reducing diesel import costs by 40%. Badawi highlighted the project’s economic benefits, particularly for the region of Upper Egypt.
Badawi reviewed the ongoing construction of the Diesel Production Complex in Assiut and held discussions with project leaders to accelerate progress, particularly following the arrival of all necessary equipment. The project is currently 77% complete and remains on track for December 2025 completion, with a total investment of $3 billion.
The Minister emphasized the crucial roles of Egyptian companies Enppi and Petrojet in collaboration with Technip. He commended the project’s skilled workforce and its contribution to increasing the project’s local content.
