Badawi Reviews Petrobel’s Milestones, Zohr Field Progress in Port Said

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has highlighted that safety is very important and working to constantly improve it is a priority.

Badawi further emphasized the importance of adhering to occupational safety and health standards, protecting the environment, and achieving high rates of safe working hours.

This came during the minister’s inspection tour of the progress of work in the Zohr field in Port Said.

During the tour, Khaled Mowafi, Chairman of Belayim Petroleum Company (PETROBEL), reviewed the company’s activities, highlighting it as an exemplary model of successful Egyptian-Italian energy cooperation.

It should be noted that the volume of investments pumped since the beginning of the partnership with Eni until now amounts to about $39 billion, around a third of those investments were spent during the Zohr field development work, with a total investment amounting to $13.5 billion, in addition to the presence of ambitious plans to pump more investments.

Petrobel manages an extensive group of capital assets through seven of its subsidiaries, as it manages its concession areas in the Gulf of Suez, the Nile Delta, and the Mediterranean, through a huge number of gas and oil wells amounting to about 1,500 wells.

The company currently produces about 530,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d), which includes about 2.6 billion cubic feet of gas per day (bcf/d), in addition to 285 tons of butane per day and about 69,000 bbl/d of oil and condensates.

Total production since Petrobel’s establishment has reached about 7 billion boe, including around 18.5 trillion cubic feet of gas, in addition to about 3.2 billion barrels of oil and condensates, and 3.6 million tons of butane.

During the tour, Badawi emphasized that establishing and maintaining a culture of safety and safe work among workers is a priority.

The Minister explained that what was achieved in this field was not easy, as it was a breakthrough behind which great efforts were made and achieved world records that call for pride.

Badawi highlighted the importance of teamwork, listening, and dialogue to overcome challenges and turn them into opportunities and successes, and to continue to be present and supportive.
