Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has conducted an inspection visit to the Al-Hamra Petroleum Port to review the ongoing expansion process for the port to increase its capacity and enhancing the transportation and trade of oil and petroleum products.

Badawi stressed the importance of this port and the continuous efforts for its development to ensure sustainable operation starting with facilities to maintain occupational safety and health systems, environmental protection, and continuous training to enhance the skills and expertise of the port’s employees. The Minister highlighted the employees’ conscious and responsible awareness of their crucial role in providing the local market’s fuel needs and achieving the ministry’s strategy objectives related to increasing production to meet local market demands and maximizing returns for the national economy.

During the inspection tour of the Hamra Oil Port, Badawi explained that “we are collectively committed, under the objectives of our ambitious strategy, to finding investment opportunities that yield the highest returns for our vital industry and the national economy.” He pointed out that the developments achieved over the past nine years and the current expansion projects are a distinguished addition to the existing capabilities and infrastructure owned by the sector or the state. “Our role is to enhance efficiency, achieve continuous development, and maximize added value, especially in the fields of refining and petrochemicals, which possess capabilities that we are working flexibly to exploit.”

Also, he highlighted the program of the new government which built up on providing all sustainable energy through diversifying the energy resources and increasing the production of oil and gas, in addition to exploiting the mineral resources and creating an attractive investment climate.
