Badawi Meets with Mubadala, TAQA, AIQ, US Firms to Expand Investments in Egypt

Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with leaders and senior executives of UAE Mubadala Energy, Saudi Arabia TAQA, AIQ, and US Devon Energy and EOG Resources on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) 2025 to expand new investments in Egypt.

During his meeting with Mansour Al Hamed, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mubadala Energy, discussions focused on enhancing investment cooperation and accelerating gas development and production activities in the Nour and Zohr gas fields offshore the Mediterranean.

Badawi highlighted the new Red Sea bid round recently announced as a key opportunity for the company to expand its offshore portfolio in Egypt.

Badawi also held separate meetings focusing on technology and operational efficiency. With Amir Naseem, Executive Vice President for Well Solutions at TAQA Group, they explored cooperation opportunities in pilot projects for optimizing well efficiency and increasing production, with talks also covering TAQA’s potential entry into exploration and production activities.

The Minister also met with executives of two leading oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) companies, Devon Energy and EOG Resources, to discuss first-time investment opportunities in Egypt.

The meeting reviewed available E&P opportunities and the Ministry’s ongoing steps to create a more competitive and investor-friendly environment.

The Minister also met with Dennis Jol, CEO of AIQ, a company specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for the energy sector. Discussions centered on deploying AI solutions for boosting exploration efficiency and optimizing production across Egypt’s petroleum companies; both sides agreed to coordinate a specialized workshop in Egypt to showcase AI applications for the energy industry.

 

At the conclusion of his meetings, Minister Badawi invited all company leaders to participate in the upcoming Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2026) in Cairo.
