Badawi, IPIC Chairman Explore Cooperation in Manufacturing Carbon Steel Pipes

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has met with Abdulkareem Al Motawaa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Pipe Industry Company (IPIC), to discuss aspects of cooperation in the areas of joint work.

This meeting was held within the framework of a series of meetings the minister is holding with heads of international oil companies operating in Egypt.

The two discussed developments in the existing cooperation between the petroleum sector and IPIC in the field of manufacturing carbon steel pipes for oil and gas projects.

Additionally, job opportunities and projects in which cooperation could occur in the future between the two sides were reviewed

Badawi emphasized the Ministry’s strategy and policy of openness, cooperation and integration with all international companies in order to transfer and localize the latest technologies and attract more investments in various petroleum activities to increase production and achieve common interests.

The minister also highlighted the significance of the Kuwaiti-Egyptian partnership, which contributes to providing some of the pipes for the needs of the national gas network and gas transmission lines, while supporting local manufacturing and rationalizing imports with new ideas and models for investment in various petroleum projects.

For his part, Al Motawaa reviewed the most important projects in which he is currently working with companies affiliated with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).

Al Motawaa stated that the company was established in Egypt in 2001 by contributing to Egyptian companies.

Moreover, Al Motawaa explained that the company’s pipes and elbows are manufactured with the highest degree of quality and in accordance with international standards

Al Motawaa pointed out the company’s aspiration to expand its business in Egypt in light of the projects planned to be implemented during the coming period.
