During his participation in the World Governments Summit, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi took center stage as a keynote speaker in the roundtable discussion on the Global Energy Efficiency Alliance, a leading platform aimed at accelerating energy efficiency improvements worldwide.
The roundtable was also attended by Sherif El-Alam, Undersecretary of the UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Petroleum Affairs; Sheikha Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President and CEO of the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA); along with a group of energy sector leaders from the European Union (EU), industry pioneers, experts, and government officials.
During the discussions, Badawi reviewed the efforts and initiatives for energy efficiency in the Egyptian oil and gas sector building a diverse energy mix for the nation.
Badawi further clarified that the energy sector in Egypt is in the process of developing a comprehensive national program to improve energy consumption efficiency in the country, as well as expanding the application of best practices in line with achieving the state’s goals for the optimal use of various energy resources, which would help reduce the import bill.
