Arkab Calls on African Countries to Join GECF

During his speech at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Mohamed Arkab, the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, the alternate president of the current session of the forum, congratulated Egypt for hosting the COP27 summit, wishing for good results that would be reflected in the natural gas industry and achieve the goals of African countries that possess natural resources and need to invest them for the benefit of their people, calling on those countries to join the forum, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum said in a statement.

Arkab stated that this meeting comes at an important time that requires innovative options and solutions to ensure the security of energy supplies, meet the growing demand for natural gas, and achieve balance with the sustainable development goals.

Moreover, Arkab pointed to the importance of the dialogues, discussions and workshops conducted by the forum to support the goals of the gas industry as a pivotal resource in providing reliable energy supplies that everyone needs. The Algerian minister also highlighted his country’s reforms in relation to the hydrocarbon law, increasing its production capabilities, its commitment to reducing carbon emissions to protect the environment, and his country’s full support for the forum in achieving its goals.
