Arcius Energy Highlights Egypt Gas Expansion Plans in EMGF Meetings

Arcius Energy, a joint venture (JV) between Britain’s bp and the UAE’s XRG, outlined plans to accelerate development of the Harmattan gas field offshore Damietta and boost production in Egypt during the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) High‑Level Roundtable in Greece.

Created in 2024 to develop and expand natural gas operations in Egypt and the wider region, Arcius Energy holds concession stakes in the Harmattan field, the Shorouk Block (Zohr), and the Atoll West development.Harmattan, located in the El Burg Offshore concession in the Mediterranean,  is designed to produce about 150 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d) of natural gas and is scheduled to be completed by 2028.

The meeting, led by Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and attended by Arcius Energy’s  CEO Naser Saif Al Yafei,  focused on bringing Harmattan into production sooner, alongside preparations to drill the Atoll West well in the North Damietta area and progress on exploration and development activities in the North Tabia area, including plans to drill the Nofret well.

Badawi and Al Yafei reviewed the implementation status of Arcius Energy’s activities in Egypt and the company’s plans to accelerate exploration, appraisal, and development work. The minister also discussed measures to support the company’s expansion and advance its drilling and production programs.
