ADNOC, DUSUP Sign Historic Gas Sales Agreement

UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Ruler of Abu Dhabi) and Vice President & Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Ruler of Dubai) witnessed the signing of a historic gas sales agreement between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Dubai Supply Authority (DUSUP).

The agreement emphasizes ADNOC’s role in facilitating a responsible energy transition and demonstrates the UAE’s dedication to progressive and practical climate action.

In accordance with the agreement, ADNOC would provide DUSUP with natural gas, which will be used at Dubai Energy and Water Authority PJSC in place of clean coal to generate electricity, thereby lowering carbon emissions from the process of producing electricity. This aids the UAE’s strategic effort to achieve net zero emissions by the year 2050 and its plans to produce electricity using cleaner energy sources.

When utilized as a substitute for coal in power generation, domestically produced natural gas is more environmentally friendly and economically viable than imported coal or gas. It will also promote economic expansion while reducing emissions.

ADNOC is a trustworthy supplier of energy with lower carbon emissions. ADNOC is growing its new energies business in addition to expanding its gas operations in order to take advantage of opportunities in hydrogen and renewable energy sources. It is also decarbonizing its operations as it embraces the energy transition and continues to contribute to meeting the world’s energy demand.
