Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Company supplied the Ministry of Agriculture with 17 million fertilizer bags and exported its production to 22 countries, generating foreign currency revenues of $317 million in fiscal year (FY) 2024/2025, said Chairman Hany Dahy in the company’s general assembly meeting. It also sold ammonia and solid fertilizers locally at free-market prices.
During the meeting, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi commended the company for helping secure a steady supply of fertilizers to the Egyptian market, meeting farmers’ needs and supporting the state’s food security goals.
He also stressed the importance of the company’s efforts to strengthen Egypt’s competitiveness in European markets through expanding green projects, carbon emission reduction solutions, and the use of renewable energy.
In line with its sustainability agenda, Abu Qir Fertilizers cut 1.3 million tons of CO₂ emissions, launched a 2.6 MW solar project, and advanced plans to produce green ammonia using hydrogen.
Dahy said that despite the challenges the company faced, significant growth and exceptional achievements were made throughout the year.
Abu Qir Fertilizers, one of the largest producers of nitrogen fertilizers in Egypt and the Middle East, halted its operations multiple times in 2024 and 2025 due to recurring natural gas shortages caused by summer heatwaves, geopolitical tensions, and production decline. However, the company continued to rank among the top 10 listed companies on the Egyptian Exchange in terms of market capitalization.
In August, Abu Qir posted a 31% decline in its net profit for the fiscal year ending in June 2025 compared to the previous year, settling at EGP 9.34 million, according to a statement from the company to the Egyptian Stock Exchange.
The company’s total sales for the year ending June 30 were EGP 22.91 billion, marking a 24% increase over the previous fiscal year. The company also generated about EGP 3 billion in cash flows from operating activities, compared to EGP 1 billion during the same period last year.
