ENAP Completes Seismic Acquisition Operations in Western Desert

ENAP as an operator to East Ras Qattara (ERQ) concession located in the Western desert, started the seismic acquisition operations in February 2021, through its joint venture (JV) Petroshahd over Shahd, Shahd SE, Diaa, and Al-Zahra Development leases.

Petroshahd’s s contractor (Ardiseis EGY3014) crew is a multi-high count (mega) crew. The crew offers over 70,000 channels of acquisition equipment, and 42 Sercel N65 vibrators. It is the only crew in the country that is capable of acquiring un-constrained blended high resolution, high density seismic acquisition. The end product is delivering high quality data in a very competitive and reduced time frame.

ENAP and Petroshahd started operation in area of interest that started in December 15th, 2020, with the Survey networking ahead of Military Mine clearance and survey operation. The main crew was fully mobilized and ground equipment laying out started on February 10th, acquisition completed on March 5th, 2021.

On February 24th, 2021, achieving 36,555 VP’s in a single 24-hour day is something to be very privileged of achieving and especially with no health, safety, and environment (HSE) incidents as a new record for Ardiseis for shooting record in Egypt and the Middle East.

The headcount for the project was around 600 person and due to the difficult time with the Covid-19 pandemic, ENAP and Petroshahd have managed to put in place a rigid testing program for all crew members as a mandatory requirement for anyone being allowed to enter the site.

There were two doctors, two paramedics and a fully equipped clinic available and ready to deal with any emergency that could arise. The medical team closely monitored on daily basis the crew and strictly implementing the prepared Covid-19 plan to ensure that the crew will remain safe and free of Covid-19.

Such success and project execution is the result of the effective cooperation and constant coordination with both, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and partners.  It is worth to mention that ERQ Concession was acquired by ENAP as operator in 2004 with 50.5% participation interest with Kuwait Energy Egypt holding 49.5%.
