Egypt’s natural gas production increased by more than 1.2 million tons during January and February 2019 due to the development of new wells and fields, an official source at the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) told Amwal Al Ghad.
The development work in Zohr field and some of the exploration fields in the Mediterranean contributed to a production leap early in 2019, increasing production by 700,000 tons in January 2019, the source noted.
The Egyptian private sector is developing existing natural gas wells in order to make their lifespan longer and compensate to the natural decline, which will contribute to covering local market’s demands of natural gas and halting liquified natural gas (LNG) imports.
