On Monday, May 11th, a room packed with the industry’s major key players welcomed the second Egypt Oil & Gas Convention Roundtable with a mix of excitement and curiosity. This year’s conference centered around production optimization, an important challenge for the industry’s main stakeholders as the international climate forces Egypt to shift focus from exploration to boosting production in existing fields. As part of the four-day convention, the roundtable brought industry experts together to discuss issues involving the public and private sectors. The participants faced each other on the large square table, including EGPC Chairman Tarek El-Molla, Former Minister of Petroleum, Abdullah Ghorab, as well as top-level IOC representatives and engaged in a discussion that acts as a stepping-stone towards greater collaboration between key players.

Industry Leaders Discuss Challenges and Potential at the First Stranded Gas Roundtable In Uptown Cairo on November 19, Egypt Oil & Gas held a roundtable to discuss the vast reserves of stranded gas in Egypt under the patronage of HE Eng. Sherif Ismail Minister of Petroleum. The event gathered industry leaders from the government and its foreign partners – representing the most promi- nent players and operators in the oil and gas sec- tor in Egypt. The roundtable was chaired by EGAS Vice Chairmen Geol. Mahfouz El Bony; its partic- ipants included the former Minister of Petroleum Eng. Abdallah Ghorab, EGAS Vice Chairman Eng. Osama Elbakly, Apache Vice President Thomas Maher, Country Manager of KUFPEC Egypt Mo- hamed Al Ajeel, Country Manager of Sea Dragon Ahmed Moaaz, and Egypt newcomer Aidan Mur- phy, the Country Chairman and Managing Director for Shell Egypt.

Agreement Reached on Forming a Brownfields Committee

Last month, Egypt Oil & Gas organized The Future of Egypt’s Brownfield Development Roundtable as a part of a three-day convention that also featured an exhibition introducing the latest brownfield technologies and a workshop to facilitate exchange of experiences and discussion between the top players in the petroleum industry, drawing from domestic and foreign experts representing the private as well as the public sector. The roundtable gathered figures such as Former Minister of Petroleum Eng. Abdallah Ghorab, CEO of EGPC Eng. Tarek El Molla, President of Romania National Agency for Mineral Resources Gheorghe Dutu, and CEO of Cheiron Petroleum Service, Dr. Hani El Sharkawi, at the Intercontinental Hotel at City Stars in Cairo. As a result of the roundtable discussions, an agreement was reached between the government and attending companies to form a committee for discussing how to advance brownfields development in Egypt.

Energy Efficiency Master Plan for Egypt

Egypt Oil & Gas Newspaper hosted its third roundtable discussion on October 3, 2013. The event was held at the Katameya Heights Clubhouse. The roundtable sought to promote dialogue between governmental officials and industry executives on the possibilities of developing Egypt's unconventional resources. Twenty-two delegates participated in the discussion, which was attended by approximately 100 members of the sector as well as local and international media outlets.
